Meet Aki Grill, a 2020 graduate of Fairview High School.
Please tell us about your current plans after high school and what inspired you to choose this path? I will be attending Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where I will be studying and playing soccer. My parents both went to Lawrence, and the opportunity to play soccer there led me to my decision.
Q: What are couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: I like the Waterloo, the Empire, Sweet Cow, and Casa Alegre.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: I would go to Switzerland because the skiing is good and it is a beautiful place that I have always wanted to visit.
Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?
A: I can’t think of a specific piece of advice from a teacher, but all of my teachers have taught me to believe in myself and just go for it!

A: Tame Impala and The Beatles are always reliable options.
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: I think having a conversation with Guy Fieri at the Empire would be very interesting. He is a very innovative guy, and he seems like a very good person to talk to. He also makes a large impact in the lives of many, such as how he recently raised $20 million for restaurants.

A: My parents always inspire me to be better because they always work hard, but still manage to balance that with having fun and enjoying life.

A: I miss my grandparents. They were supposed to come here for my graduation, but those plans got cancelled due to the current situation.
Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?
