Nancy Cooley

Meet Nancy Cooley, a Colorado native – born in Denver and raised in Boulder.  She’s lived in Louisville for the last 22 years and has become a well known as the owner of Found Underground Consignment, a store that is as much about the re-use of clothing and retail as it is about supporting community.  In Nancy’s words, “I love this town, it’s my community.”

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’ve been married to my wife, legally for 6 years however, we’ve been together for 23! We have 2 adult children, Sylas and Lia.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’m an older woman and have had many careers, but my favorites have always been in retail. I love people. I’m really good at connecting with all sorts of people. It’s my super power.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I love the Huckleberry! I love Tibets. I love the Waterloo!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
My wife and I first owned a shop on Main st called Tiger Herb Company. Massage and Acupuncture.we had that for 13 years. Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, and we closed that to focus on her health and recovery. I opened Found Underground Consignments in 2006! It’s been going strong for 14 years!

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Johnathan Hanst, artist in Lafayette, and Kristen Kerr-Gannon a high school teacher at Monarch High.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
The Grand Canyon. I’ve not ever seen it! Crazy!

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Harry Potter… Inglorious Basterds… Princess Bride! TV would be Shitts Creek.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Just do you. It gets better.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I climbed the first flatiron when I was 58. I’d like to climb Longs Peak.

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Well of course it’s the Beatles!

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
There was an old Italian deli on main street 22 years ago…

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Michelle Obama. Moxie Bread Co. I would love to hear her calming voice of reason.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The superb bike paths! The coal creek trail!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Dang… these days it’s hard to look past next week!

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
HOO boy! My life is an open book. I always say our secrets kill us! I guess the non secret is I’ve been sober for 38 years. It’s just my way of life!

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Anywhere I’ve been with my children.

October. Halloween. April 22

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
My dog Ruby.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Dana Derichsweiler, the owner of the Walnut Cafes.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Lilac. A pot of green chili.

Family, food, comfort.
